LPX supports custom Panning Law options, which is great. In this case I have a pretty good idea where things should be with regards to program loudness before bouncing. Keep in mind all my clips are pre-loudness normalized (yes loudness normalized - not peak normalized) before I import into my DAW. If there is a better solution I'm open to suggestions. What I'm doing is duping mono clips on separate tracks and hard panning (L/R). My bounced outputs were -3dB less than they should be without gain compensation and channel level adjustments, which can be risky. One thing that was sort of an inconvenience is the lack of Panning Law Preferences. I realize and accept the limitations of PT Express, and it's not a problem. I'm looking forward to upgrading to PT 11 when I can. Totally different look compared to LPX - but that's unimportant. Four days later I've logged 4 pages of keyboard shortcuts, and I'm pretty comfortable in the PT environment.

Installing the latest Mbox drivers and PT Express was painless. By the way the kit also included a free ver.2 iLok. Let me say this Mbox as a basic I/O device is downright stellar. I'll do this as soon as the new MacPro becomes available.

With this purchase I'm eligible to upgrade to PT 11 with no problem. On Wednesday I received the Mbox Mini with Pro Tools Express (10.3.4). I know I need to get myself up to speed with Pro Tools. OTOH for short form content there is no reason why LPX should be shunned for post. I'm not saying that it's fit for motion picture mixing. It allows me to customize somewhat obscure options like Panning Law options - and I can offline bounce all day long with no problem. I just ignore all the music creation aspects of the app. In fact I'm using it under an "unsupported" version of OSX (10.7.5). It does not store any personal data.Real quick I use Logic Pro X for post, replacing Logic 9.
